Andy LeVerne
A profoundly gifted musician, composer and arranger, jazz-pianist Andy LaVerne has released more than 50 recordings as a leader and has contributed to scores of others as a supporting artist. In 2006 he released The Art of the Duo (Mel Bay Records), his second performance DVD with his close friend, jazz-guitarist John Abercrombie.
Andy has performed and recorded with an impressive list of artists, including Frank Sinatra, Stan Getz, Woody Herman, Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea, Lionel Hampton, Michael Brecker, Elvin Jones, and many others. He recently toured and recorded with legendary singer/songwriter Neil Sedaka.
Andy is a regular contributor to Piano Today Magazine and Keyboard Magazine, the latter having published his work for the past two decades. He has also written for DownBeat, Jazz Improv, Piano Quarterly, Jazz and Keyboard Workshop, and JazzOne.
Andy studied at Juilliard, Berklee, and the New England Conservatory and took private lessons from legendary pianist Bill Evans. A prolific author as well as a dedicated teacher, he has an impressive list of current and forthcoming instructional titles. Andy serves as Professor of Jazz Piano at The Hartt School (University of Hartford) and teaches at the Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops in Louisville, Kentucky.
